Course Info

Industrial and transport electronics is the specialization of the professional ‘Electronics’ program which is focused on the development of professional knowledge and practical skills required for a graduate to succeed in the field of industrial automation and transport control systems. At the initial stage of studies, students complete basic engineering courses dealing with such disciplines as electrical engineering and automatic control, fundamentals of analog and digital electronics, microcontroller programming, automation system sensors, and actuators. Students acquire professional knowledge by studying programmable logic controllers, industrial networks, robotic complexes and embedded systems of industrial facilities, design of automated systems and visualization of technological processes. In the study process, the laboratory stands equipped with programmable SIEMENS AG Corporation’s logical controllers, software and accessories as well as Kawasaki and Kuka industrial robots are used. Before preparing for the diploma project, students undergo mandatory industrial practice in industrial and transport companies in Latvia and EU countries.

Career Prospectives

There is a demand for specialists in industrial and transport electronics, who is able to work as an automated system designer, industrial automation system maintenance engineer, software engineer for industrial automated systems, electrical equipment maintenance engineer or transport automation systems: air transport, road transport, railway transport and sea transport
