Shipping and Port Engineering

Course Info

Students gain complex knowledge of the maritime industry and shipping, sustainable port development, the efficiency of transport energy facilities and alternative energy. They are able to create, plan, design and modernize port terminals, ships and other technical maritime facilities.

The main courses in the curriculum include Maritime Development Problems and Research Directions; Port Infrastructure and Superstructure Engineering; Ship Types and Concept Projects; Experimental Ship Hydrodynamics; and Offshore Wind Energy.

Specialisations: Sea Ports Management; Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding.

Global issues you will tackle

Reducing the environmental impact on shipping in accordance with the requirements of the IMO. Impact in the following using the introduction of clean and smart technologies in the maritime industry and ports: green and digitized ports, zero-emission, electric and autonomous ships, renewable and alternative marine fuels, and increasing energy efficiency.
